Project #3: Surface Clean Your Bedroom
For today’s challenge, I decided to tackle Benjamin’s room — since it is the only bedroom in the house!
And here’s what it looked like after about 20 minutes+ of time (I accidentally turned off my timer, so I’m not exactly sure how long it took me!)
Since it was mainly just toy debris, it wasn’t too bad.Β It did give me the opportunity to purge some toys that he no longer plays with and a few items he has outgrown. {Speaking of toys, we have a shelf + of toys, and all he really wants to play with are empty cardboard and plastic containers! Oh well, I’m glad he doesn’t have to have all the fancy “stuff” to be happy π }
I would really LOVE to see it cleaned up everyday, but with a 17-month old, I’m lucky to have gotten a picture before it got destroyed again! I’m trying to stay focused on enjoying the moments, spending time with Benjamin, and not worrying so much about always having a *perfect* house {but that is still a “work in progress”}.
And here is what I am getting rid of today (either by way of trash, donation, or packing away for a future child):
Did you make any spring cleaning progress today??

I worked in the master bedroom today. The room wasn’t too bad just lots of books and paper clutter to clean up. Some dust and dust bunnies under the radio and nightstand.
I agree with you to enjoy the time while they are little and not worry too much about the toy mess. I would pick up once a day before bed to keep me sane while my kids were little. Then when they were about 2 to 2.5 I started having them help clean up before bed each night. Most days it looked like a toy bomb had went off in our living room by bedtime.
So now when I say 10 minute clean up the kids will help put away the items laying around. It is great to have good helpers and it is nice to wake to a picked up house each morning, well most morning. π

Thanks for the encouragement, it helps to hear from a mom who has “been there” π The toy bomb is so true! And makes me so crazy! I look forward to when my little guy is able to help pick up a bit more (and actually knows what that means!). Thanks for stopping by π

My older son loves cleaning when I am specific. Such as, “Pick up 15 things” versus just “Pick up your toys.” π

Thanks for the tip — I will have to remember to use that one when Benjamin gets old enough to help more!

It did feel good to get rid of stuff – I actually really enjoy decluttering, so this challenge has been fun :). As for my little man…we like him π
